Brock

Meet Brock! A handsome 2-year-old sable merle Rough Collie with a striking blue eye and a sweet, playful spirit waiting to emerge. Once he feels secure, this sweet boy greets his people enthusiastically, offers play bows, and shows off his sit and shake. He’ll thrive with patient adopters, a secure fenced yard, and a calm environment where trust can grow at his pace.

Brock is house-trained, tidy, and will let you know when he needs to go outside. He has not had any accidents in the house. He greatly prefers to know where you are, but as long as he can see or hear you, he is content. Brock regularly navigates the eight stairs from the deck to the yard. He has not attempted to climb the steep, narrow staircase inside, but his foster mom has no doubt he could do it down the road.

This boy has nice house manners and is becoming a happy, affectionate companion with people he knows, though he still needs time and patience to feel comfortable in new situations. Brock is very good about going into his crate when told to and does not fuss about staying there. He can probably be trusted alone for a short period of time, but since he’s still young, his foster mom crates him when she’s gone for an extended period. He eats well, rides happily in the car, and walks well overall once his leash is attached. Brock is unsure of new dogs he encounters on walks and needs ongoing training to build his focus on you and reduce reactivity. He would benefit from continued confidence-building activities around leash handling, neighborhood noises, cars, loud sounds, and other dogs on walks.

Brock is a sensitive boy and will take a bit of time to adjust and relax in a new home. His introduction to resident dogs should be done slowly. He has not shown any aggression, but he is nervous about new dogs, wary of new things, and startles easily at first. He would definitely enjoy another young dog or two to play with; a similar-sized canine companion would be best. He could potentially be successful as an only dog with the right family.

Brock will blossom in a patient household, quiet, low-traffic neighborhood without small children, where gentle handling and time allow him to adjust and settle in. A secure fenced yard is required, along with continued confidence-building activities.
