Meet Abby!

Abby is a petite, sensitive and gentle Rough Collie with a quiet, curious nature and a tender heart. She enjoys relaxed play with a ball, rests peacefully overnight, and LOVES the company of other dogs. Her sweet, gentle personality makes her a lovely companion for someone ready to help her continue growing in confidence and strength.

At home, Abby is very observant, loves to learn new things and doesn’t shy away from challenges. She knows sit, shake and responds to her name. She sleeps well through the night and enjoys gentle activity rather than a busy, high-energy routine. This girl is potty trained, walks relatively well on a leash, jumps in and out of the car (needs help with a taller vehicle). She rides calmly for typical errand-length trips and doesn’t move around, but she drools quite a bit.

Abby is rebuilding her muscle after spending much of her first year in a small, confined area without enough physical activity. So, she tires quicker than the resident collies and takes frequent breaks. Short, easy play sessions and plenty of rest are the best fit while she gains strength. Her legs’ and spine X-rays were normal so it’s a matter of getting her strength and stamina back.

Abby is still puppy-like and needs close supervision because she may nibble or chew on household items. When unsupervised, she does best in a safely baby-gated room. She is understandably uncomfortable with being crated and the sound of the gate closing. Her new family should use patient, positive management rather than crate confinement. A gentle home with dog-friendly companions and a thoughtful routine would suit this sweet girl well.
