Blake is our new "Mystery Man". We don't know what the first part of his life has been like, but from what he can tell us, it wasn't pleasant. After two months running at large he was finally caught in a live trap. He was too afraid of people to allow anyone to get close enough to catch him by hand. His long rough Collie coat had to be shaved as it was one matted burr filled mess. It's already starting to grow in, and if the long hair they left on his tail is any indication, he will be beautiful in about 6-8 months! He is currently in foster care where he is learning that he doesn't have to be so afraid, and that a regular meal will be served so he doesn't have to go looking for one. He is still very fearful of people, loud sudden noises, and especially cars. He does not react one way or the other to most dogs or other animals. This may change as he develops more self confidence. He has a long way to go and will require patience and ultimate kindness for the next several months. A securely fenced yard is a definite requirement for anyone wanting to adopt this sweet little dog. We will update his progress as he develops into the loving companion we are confident he will someday become, and that in his heart he really wants to be. |
