Toby is a gorgeous, well-mannered six-year-old smooth boy who is still bewildered after the death of his owner and loss of his "pack" -- the other collies he lived with. Now, after a few days of being in his foster home, his tail is wagging again and he's starting to adjust. His best times are still ahead!

Everyone who sees Toby says "wow, what a beautiful dog" -- and wow -- he is! He loves to be brushed, and his eyes close in ecstasy when you scratch him under his collar. He's still not eating well, but will take a treat from our hands. He's not lost his fear yet ---- he barks loudly at any kind of truck and flinches if you make a sudden move -- but each day he's more relaxed and less scared. He does well with stairs, and walks great on leash.

Toby has only had one accident in the house --- it was pouring rain, and he (and his foster mom) didn't stay outside quite long enough for him to get things done! Otherwise, he's been perfect. He desperately wants to be friends with the foster family's cat (although the feeling is not yet reciprocated), and seemed to enjoy being with the other dogs at the groomer's. He's used to being in a crate, and is a great traveler in the car. Toby is quiet and reserved when he first meets people, but under that reserve is a wonderful guy who just wants the love of a good family, security and a little attention.
