Prince Sable-headed White Rough Male 2 years Available

Prince is a 2 year old sable headed white rough coated collie. Prince had to have his coat shaved off because he had not been taken care of properly. Prince has spent his life in a "breeding" kennel or puppy farm. He is under socialized and is very fearful. He will have a long journey to becoming a pet. He has just entered his foster home and so much is new to him, all the household sounds, traffic, and the human touch is frightening to him. He needs to learn to trust humans; he was good for the groomer - with her gentle touch he warmed up to her after his long grooming session. He felt so good he acted like a puppy when he got home after having that horrible filthly matted coat removed. Prince will need to attend a puppy class even though he is not a puppy but with Prince it will be like starting from scratch going back to the basics to teach him house manners and how to walk on a leash. He needs to go into a house with no cats. He will need an owner with patience and an open heart to his fears.

Update 5-19-08: Well, Prince has come a long way since being listed. He has been in foster care and it has been reported that Prince now loves to go for rides with his foster dad in the truck - Prince is the co-pilot. He has learned that having a human for a friend is a good thing and show his appreciation by giving his foster dad kisses. He has turned into quite the social butterfly since arriving into foster care and is now well known around the neighborhood. He has been taken into large crowds to help with his socialization and with the loving care of his foster dad is finding the confidence he needs to be a Canine Good Citizen. He goes for long walks every evening and is learning how not to pull on the leash but still needs a little work. He would be best placed with another dog that is a female.
